Boscarelli
De Ferrari IGT: 90% Sangiovese (Prugnolo Gentile clone), 5% Merlot, and 5% Canaiolo. The wine matures partly in casks of wood and partly in steel vats for around six to nine months. After a light filtering it is bottled at the end of the following summer and is ready by the end of the year. Plum and berry fruit shine through in this youthful yet elegant offering that captures the grape’s chewy, round, and silky essence. A beautiful wine with a nice finish.
Vino Nobile Di Montepulciano DOCG: 90% Sangiovese (Prugnolo Gentile clone), 10% Canaiolo, Mamulo, and Colorino; The wine matures in Allier and Slavonian oak for 18-24 months. The resulting Nobile is structured and complex, with a lovely nose of dried herbs, leather, earth, vanilla & strawberry jam and plenty of plummy, flavorful fruit on a palate made supple and appealing by the silky tannins and black cherry finish. Longevity is in the eight year range and more.
Vino Nobile Di Montepulciano "Nocio Dei Boscarelli" DOCG: 100% select Sangiovese from the single vineyard, Nocio, planted in 1972 containing 7.9 acres. The vineyard was named after a very old, giant nut tree and has a South/Southeast exposure. The wine is aged in Allier and Slavonian oak casks (5 and 10 hl.) for 18-24 months. The impressively orchestrated wood is well integrated into the ripe, sweet fruit and layered complexity. Cellar life is a good 10-15 years.
Vino Nobile Di Montepulciano Riserva DOCG: 90% Sangiovese (Prugnolo Gentile clone), 5% Merlot, and 5% Cabernet from 6 to 35 year old vines with a density of 2,500 vines per acre. After its malolactic fermentation, the Riserva ages 24-30 months in barrels of Allier and Slavonian oak, varying in capacity from 5-35 hl. Ruby red with garnet hues, the bouquet recalls plums and blueberries evolving to violets and iris, elegantly confirmed on the fruity, structured, rich, ripe, and complex palate.
Boscarelli IGT: 10% Sangiovese, 50% Merlot, 10% Carmenère and 30% Cabernet Sauvignon. The grapes are harvested from South/Southeast facing vineyards at 984 feet a.s.l. After maceration the wine is refined in barriques and tonneaux of French Allier and Nevers oak of different capacity from 225 to 500 liters for a period of 12-18 months according to the character of the vintage. After refining the blending of the cuvée is carried out, and, only if essential, a light filtration before bottling. This wine is extremely limited and is solely produced in the finest years.
