Conterno Fantino
Chardonnay Delle Langhe "Bastia" DOC: 100% Chardonnay partly from the Ginestra vineyard and partly from Bricco Bastia. The wine is barrique-fermented on the lees for maximum extract, and fine-tuned for 16 months in new Allier barriques. Deep, brilliant straw yellow in color, its elegant, delicate bouquet shows fragrant notes of banana, butter, honey, and yellow flowers, well integrated by subtle oak and confirmed on the soft, fresh and flavorful palate.
Barolo "Sorì Ginestra" DOCG: 100% select Nebbiolo cru from southerly exposed vines on Ginestra’s marly, calcareous terrain, conducive to remarkable structure and cellar life. The vineyard is 1,181 feet above sea level and the vines are Guyot-trained, with a density of 2,000 vines per acre. Temperature-controlled fermentation at 82.4° F lasts 7 to 10 days, after which the wine is aged in French oak for up to 24 months, with a further year in the bottle. Deep garnet with ruby hues, with a rich, fruity and persistent bouquet of rose petals, brushwood and berries this wine is full-bodied, luscious, and austere on the palate.
Barolo "Vigna Del Gris" DOCG: From cru Ginestra 984 feet above sea level, with an southeasterly exposure, and sandy soil, favoring delicacy and elegance. Slightly more forward than “Sorì Ginestra”, which it very much resembles. Vinification and élevage are the same as for “Sorì Ginestra”. Rich bouquet of red and mature fruits with prevalence of red cherries. A superb but elegant, grand structure with the right amount of sapidity
Barolo "Mosconi" DOCG: 100% Nebbiolo from a new vineyard parallel to Sori Ginestra with an altitude, averaging 1312 feet. The vines date back to 1950, with some replanted in 1999-2000, propagating the best existing vines onto new rootstock. Southeasterly exposure with soils high in calcareous marls, rich in magnesium, conducive to very high levels of polyphenols. Aged in 100% new French barriques for 24 months. Deep garnet in color, fruity bouquet recalling brushwood, berry fruit, brier rose; gorgeous structure, ripe, rich tannins, complex, and austere.
Barbera d'Alba "Vignota" DOC: 100% Barbera d’Alba, grown at 919 feet, with a density of 1,500 vines per acre. Fermentation at 30° C lasts 7-8 days, and the wine is aged in small, French oak barrels for 10 months, with an additional 2 months in bottle. Intense ruby red which turns garnet in time; fruity and herbaceous bouquet with notes of ripe cherry confirmed on, full, fresh, flavorful palate. Long, crisp finish.
Dolcetto d'Alba "Bricco Bastia" DOC: 100% Dolocetto from the homonymous cru, with an altitude of 1706 feet and density of approximately 2,000 vines per acre. Soil composition is 57% sand, 27% silt, and 16% clay. Fermentation lasts 4 to 5 days, at 28° C, retaining all the immediate varietal appeal of Dolcetto. It sojourns 8 months in stainless steel before bottling. Intense purple in color; fresh and fragrant scents of baby strawberry, cherry and red fruit. Good structure, the presence of tannins is sweet and lively on the palate.
Rosso Delle Langhe "Monprà" DOC: 5% Nebbiolo, 45% Barbera, and 10% Cabernet Sauvignon. Aged in 100% new barriques for 18 months plus an additional 6 months in bottle. Deep garnet in color, with an ample, elegant bouquet showing notes of toasted leather, coffee, barley and strawberry jam; full and voluptuous on the palate, with sweet tannins and round flavors.
Nebbiolo Delle Langhe "Ginestrino" DOC: 100% Nebbiolo. The grapes are grown at Ornati outside the Barolo zone albeit within Monforte d'Alba at 1,312 feet a.s.l. The soil composition is 35% sand, 40% silt, and 25% clay. The wine is aged for 10 months in second use French oak barriques. Very lively ruby color with garnet reflections; persistent and appealing bouquet with notes of brier rose and peach pit; on the palate, roundness is balanced by characteristic tannins and structure.
