Bongiovanni
Arneis Langhe DOC: 100% Arneis from Corneliano d’Alba and Castellinaldo. The vines are Guyot-trained, covering a little under 2.5 acres and are 15 years old on average, planted with a density of 1,620 per acre. Fermentation is sur lie, at 62.6-64.4°F, conducive to smooth flavors and perfectly integrated acidity. The wine is bottled in March. Straw yellow with golden reflections; elegant, floral bouquet with intense notes of pears, distinct freshness on the palate, balanced acidity, and great versatility with food.
Barolo DOCG: 100% Nebbiolo from a small vineyard in Castiglione Falletto of 4.9 acres (which includes the plot used for Pernanno). The soil is clayey with vines averaging 30 years with a southeasterly exposure. Harvest takes place after mid-October. Vinified in stainless steel, and aged a minimum of 24 months in French barriques, the wine is bottled with no filtration. Crimson with garnet hues in color, the bouquet is extremely complex; in youth, it shows delicate fruity notes like raspberry and strawberry, as well as mint. As it ages, the nose evolves and acquires spicy nuances as well as hints of tobacco, and roses confirmed on the full, luscious, velvet-textured palate.
Barolo "Pernanno" DOCG: 100% Nebbiolo grapes of one particular plot within the estate’s finest vineyard. The grapes are left on the vines for several extra days after the regular Barolo is harvested, for even greater concentration. Vinified in stainless steel. 50% of the wine is aged in new Allier oak barriques for approximately 18 months, then in larger oak barrels for the remainder of mandatory élevage of 24 months. A gorgeously structured, velvety cru with the succulent fragrance of berries, red fruit, leather, and mint.
Dolcetto d'Alba DOC: 100% Dolcetto from Monforte d’Alba and Castiglione Falleto. A minuscule crop of 1.2 tons per acre from 10 and 30 year old vines, the soil is clayey with an eastern exposure. The grapes are vinified and then aged in stainless steel for 7 month. During this time micro-oxygenation is employed to optimize the aging process. The wine is left unfiltered, for a deep structured, blockbuster wine. Deep purple in color; delicate, elegant, with violet notes and typical, sweet almond finish.
Barbera d'Alba DOC: 100% Barbera from Serralunga d’Alba and Monforte. Clayey soil and densely planted (1,620 per acre), the 10 year old vines are low Guyot-trained, and cover 1.9 acres. Vinified in stainless steel, this 100% varietal is barrique-fermented and barrique-aged for 12 months previous to a further 6 months in stainless steel before release. The wine is left unfiltered, and bottled in the summer of the second year. Deep crimson color, beautiful structure, cellar-worthy and at the same time extremely mellow, round and food-friendly, shows delightful cherry fruit, well integrated with subtle notes of vanilla from the barriques in French oak.
Rosso Delle Langhe "Faletto" DOC: Blend of approximately 50% Cabernet Sauvignon, 30% Barbera, 20% Nebbiolo. Fermented in stainless steel and barrique-aged 12-18 months, depending on characteristics of the vintage. Unfiltered, and bottled the summer of the second year after harvest. This is the estate’s only blend that will vary from year to year, as Davide orchestrates a given vintage’s subtle variations and harmonies. Deep purple with mauve reflections, the bouquet is extremely rich and complex; layered palate, showing concentrated fruit with spicy, licorice and cedar notes that linger and metamorphose into leather and rose petals. |
